Canal+ Savoured transforms passive viewing participation. Instead of treating this like a recipe app, I designed it around how people actually remember food on screen: a mood, a scene, a craving, then a plan.
Food in film is more than visual, it's atmosphere, culture and emotion. Yet these moments are missed to the screen, experienced as only spectators, never participants.
As scenes play, guided prompts appear, allowing viewers to discover new recipes, learn and experience more then just a screen. One Canal+ subscription will access you to over hundreds of recipes across all the biggest streaming platforms that you have to uniquely find yourself.

The Ideas And Research.
This is just a snapshot of how much idea creation and research went into Canal+ Savoured. The brief was to go beyond TV territory and the first idea that popped into mind was to bring the cinema home. The other option was incorporating food into it after researching that Canal+ is a very cultured service, food is a big part of culture, so I moved along with this idea.
Finding Users Wants And Needs.
I interviewed and surveyed users with questions based around food, TV and culture. I was thinking of doing surprise cultured food+film packages at first but learnt from this that users would rather choose what they are eating and watching. Users also said they would rather cook the food themselves which then led me to this resolution…
